Maglone & its commitments : the Earth at heart !

Maglone is a design and timeless leather goods brand, yes, just like a committed brand. Since its launch almost two years ago, the objective has always been the same: to produce responsibly.

In a world where Fast Fashion reigns and is one of the biggest polluters on the planet, we must be more responsible, even on a small scale. This is about respect for the environment as well as respect for human rights and working conditions. You are certainly wondering how Maglone bags are produced? Well we tell you all about it!

What do we call responsible fashion production?

It is when clothes or accessories are produced in such a way as to minimize their impact on the environment. At Maglone, we therefore try to work as best we can in an ecological and ethical way.

Because the objective of Fast Fashion being to produce very quickly, in very large quantities and at a lower cost, the conditions of the workers are not necessarily optimal, and the chosen materials pollute the environment. This overproduction, in addition to being polluting with transport, is therefore absolutely not sustainable.

Maglone pieces are made to last, hold up over time, and be timeless. These are bags that are shaped to be passed down from generation to generation. They are produced with European (Italy, Switzerland) and French materials, and made with different small workshops and craftsmen whose work we follow and who follow us on small series. The idea? Produce less but better in the Slow Fashion movement that young designers are increasingly adopting.

How are our bags made?

First of all, they are drawn by hand by the designer in her studio in Paris. They are then developed into a model to check the volumes, and finally a prototype is launched in the workshops of Parisian manufacturers. Once the materials and the technique have been validated, it’s time to start production!

Regarding the materials: the wood used for the handles of the MAG and JAN bags is beech wood, sometimes recycled. It is a resistant and light wood protected by an organic varnish. This little touch of nature is achieved thanks to three different cabinetmakers in Paris, Annecy and Toulouse.

The jewelery of the bags (carabiner, metal hooks, etc.) is Italian and Swiss. The leathers are mostly Italian, and some are French. A part comes from dormant stocks of Haute Couture houses. The bags are assembled in Spain, towards Alicante, or in Bucharest in Romania by Italian manufacturers. As for small leather goods, it is set up in the south-west of France.

This is how our little babies are born!

A little info to know:

Did you know that it is forbidden to raise animals specifically for their skin?
The leather used for leather goods is recovered from animals that are raised for their meat. We work with suppliers who have numerous planet and animal protection labels. They are transparent… And so are we!

Word from the designer : “I think that in an era where we have to think about the planet, it is important to produce responsibly. I try as much as possible to work in an ecological way with European and French materials and productions on a human scale with various small manufacturers who follow me in my adventures and my very small series.”
