“#SlowFashion” is her mantra, “eco-friendly” is her watchword, “hunting” is her passion, green is her color, and our MAG fir model is her new favorite bag … Nawal Bonnefoy is our You of the month ! Why do we love her ? For her looks that are both modern and retro, of course, but not only ! We like her spontaneity, her closeness, her commitment or her self-mockery. Discover her portrait.
Behind the Serial Chineuse blog, hides a lover of eco-responsible fashion and retro style : Nawal Bonnefoy, an Instagrammer with multiple tips ! This flea market, thrift and vintage lifestyle enthusiast is as sparkling as she is benevolent, as slow as fashion, as natural as it is original, as stylish as it is fun. And she’s wearing our MAG bag !
My name is Nawal Bonnefoy, I am 29-soon-30, I come from Cannes on the French Riviera and I have lived in Paris for 6 years with my boyfriend and my cat. I’m a pop culture and fashion journalist, and I also run a blog (Serial Chineuse) and an Instagram account centered around slow fashion, whether it’s vintage fashion or ethical fashion.
Outfits made up of second-hand or ethical pieces, fashion advice, discoveries of eco-responsible brands and products… but not only ! I also like to take pictures of the pretty things I see, travel (well … when we could still), discover good places to hunt, eat or have a drink, make music and series recommendations.
I have a neo-vintage style : I like to mix pieces from several decades to create my own silhouettes, with a strong taste for the 60’s, cool patterns and pop colors.
A very cool brand discovered at the end of 2020 ! I like the boldness of the designs, and the importance that the designer places on the know-how and the origin of the materials used in the design of the pieces. It immediately spoke to me.
The MAG obviously ! I own the green model, and I only get compliments when I wear it (and I wear it very often). I find it classy but not boring, and I like its “vintage but modern inspiration” side, which fits perfectly with my style. Beyond that, its format is super practical, which makes it an ideal bag for everyday use.
It’s cliché, but I find it really goes with everything. I can just as easily wear it with a retro black dress, ankle boots and a scarf, as with a white blouse, high waisted pants, a vintage blazer and a pair of sneakers.
I think it’s important, and even essential, to completely review the way we consume fashion. Buy less but better, invest in quality pieces made with real know-how, support local designers, revalue vintage pieces … and move away as much as possible from fast-fashion, which is a real disaster for the planet, and exploits textile workers halfway around the world.
On Instagram, I’m a fan of the worlds of Keiko Lynn and Darling In Dots, two American women with a hot retro style. On Youtube, I love Ashley from Best Dressed (she’s American too), who is a super funny chick who loves to find vintage pieces, and has an amazing style.
Treat yourself to a beautiful fashion piece, you deserved it after surviving a year as bad as 2020 !
